‘The Devil Wears Prada’ cast to reunite on Zoom for charity auction

The auction winner will have the opportunity of a lifetime to have a private Zoom call with the movie’s star-studded cast.

For its 20th anniversary, Lollipop Theater Network is auctioning off a 10-minute, exclusive Zoom call with The Devil Wears Prada cast—Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt and Stanley Tucci—to benefit the organization.

The Lollipop Theater Network is a nonprofit organization that brings current movies and entertainment to pediatric patients in the US, who are confined to hospitals due to chronic or life-threatening illnesses.

As of this writing, the highest bid is at $8,500 (P425,000). The estimated value of the prize is $50,000 (P2.5 million), according to Charitybuzz.

The auction winner will be able to chat with the cast for 10 minutes. According to the rules, recording, screen grabs and distributing the Zoom session is strictly prohibited. The experience cannot be resold or re-auctioned.

“We are so thrilled to be celebrating our 20th anniversary with our amazing partners at Charitybuzz and the incredibly talented cast of ‘The Devil Wears Prada’,” said Lollipop Theater Network executive director Evelyn Iocolano in a statement.

She added, “We have seen the tremendous impact that these kinds of interactions have on our young patients, and now one lucky bidder will have the chance to experience it themselves, all while contributing much-needed funds to keep our programs up and running. Here’s to the next 20 years of Lollipop!”

The movie recently celebrated its 15th anniversary, with the cast and crew reuniting virtually in June where they discussed, among many things, why the cult classic is still relevant today.

“I think the reason that the film has stayed with us and landed is because it hit at a particular moment in time—the discomfort with women being boss people had to figure out, because we weren’t gonna go away,” said Streep, who won a Golden Globe for her portrayal of Runway editor-in-chief Miranda Priestly.

“This is the first movie I ever had that men have come up to me and said, ‘I know how you feel’,” she noted.

The film adaptation of the Lauren Weisberger novel of the same name stars Anne Hathaway as Andy Sachs, Emily Blunt as Emily Charlton, and Stanley Tucci as Nigel Kipling.

The auction is open until Aug. 3. Click here for more information.
