The heat is on in Saigon!

The Manila run of Cameron Mackintosh's Miss Saigon is extended until May 12 at The Theatre at Solaire, GMG Productions said.

"We’re beyond thrilled with the excitement and enthusiasm that the Filipino audience has for Miss Saigon, that we’ve now made the decision to extend the production for one more final week. We’re eager to welcome more people to be able to experience the classic production,” GMG Productions’ CEO Carlos Candal said.

The Asian tour will be led by Fil-Australian actress Abigail Adriano as Kim, Seann Miley Moore as the Engineer, Nigel Huckle as Chris, Laurence Mossman as Thuy, Kiara Dario as Gigi, Sarah Morrison as Ellen, and Lewis Francis as John.

Filipino child actors Anderson Bonita, Keone Buenaluz, Dylan De Ocampo, Enzo Isaac, and Cassidy Lorenzana will  chosen to portray the character of Tam, Kim's son.

Based on the 1904 opera Madame Butterfly by Giacomo Puccini, Miss Saigon follows the story of a Vietnamese woman named Kim who gets abandoned by her American lover in Saigon during the Vietnam War in the '70s. It was created by Claude-Michel Schönberg and Alain Boublil.

Miss Saigon will arrive in the Philippines starting March 23 this year and will run until May 12 at The Theatre at Solaire in Parañaque City.
