Ready to enter your content creator era but don't know where to start?

Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) is offering a course on content creation, which "consists of competencies that a person must achieve to create and share content intended to educate or entertain an audience across social media platforms."

Among the things you can learn are the "creation of concepts for social media posting, translation of concepts into multimedia content, and propagation of content."

In a press release, TESDA Secretary Suharto T. Mangudadatu, Ph.D. said that the agency has developed the competency standards on Content Creation (Social Media) Level III in coordination with the Kapisanan ng Social Media Broadcasters ng Pilipinas, Inc.

Mangudadatu stressed the importance of quality training for the increasing numbers of content creators in the country, putting the focus on the many ways they "develop and convey their messages" as well as the "quality of materials they upload across various social media platforms."

"Virtual networks and communities have enabled us to connect with our audience, build brand awareness, and strengthen engagement. However, the effectiveness of our efforts relies heavily on the quality and relevance of the content we share. In light of this, our content creators must be well-equipped with the skills and knowledge necessary to produce compelling and engaging content," he said.

Through quality training programs, Mangudadatu said those who want to be content creators can learn the most significant things needed to maximize livelihood opportunities online through technology—"and mostly in the comfort of their own homes."

"Many of our kababayans are very talented and resourceful, and I am confident that if given the right skills, they will be better positioned to create content that resonate better with their audience, foster meaningful connections, and ultimately contribute significantly to society," he said.

According to a report by state-run People's Television Network, the course will first be offered in training centers accredited by the government in Metro Manila and then other parts of the Philippines.

To enroll in this course, you would need to present your PSA birth certificate, high school or college diploma, certified true copy of official transcript of records, certificate of good moral character, and 1x1 or 2x2 pictures. You must be at least 15 years old.

TESDA's deputy director general Rosanna Urdaneta told ANC that course credits can be used for college. The tuition fee would depend on the training center, but scholarships are also being offered. Know more about the course here.

Various content creators with a huge following have previously shared that they earn at least six figures from their online posts, depending on their reach.
