Looking to fuel your love for astronomy?

In celebration of World Space Week, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration—under the Department of Science and Technology—is holding planetarium shows, telescoping, and stargazing sessions for free on Oct. 10 at the PAGASA Astronomical Observatory in UP Diliman, Quezon City.

With the theme "Space and Entrepreneurship," the special day will kick off with free planetarium exhibits at 8:00 a.m. and end at 3:45 p.m. Alternating between "From Earth to the Universe" and "The Sky Tonight," the shows will put the spotlight on the breathtaking beauty of the universe, distant galaxies, and the solar system.

The planetarium shows will be followed by free telescoping and stargazing sessions from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. on the same day, with an astronomy expert who will guide the participants in learning about constellations and other celestial wonders above.

According to the World Space Week Association (WSWA), World Space Week is a celebration of space science and technology, and their contribution to making life better for all. It's being observed in different nations across the globe.

The week-long event began in 1999, when the United Nations General Assembly declared Oct. 4 to 10 as World Space Week.
