World leaders ask Taylor Swift to bring 'Eras Tour' to their countries

It’s a no-brainer that Taylor Swift has captivated millions of fans with her spectacular performances and iconic songs. With the announcement of The Eras Tour, Swifties all over the world rejoiced about the prospect of seeing the superstar in their cities.

But such is not the case for everyone as some countries were not included in her tour schedule. It appears that her fans are not the only ones heartbroken as even various leaders across the globe took to social media to invite her to bring Eras to their countries, too.

On July 6, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau replied to Swift’s tweet about adding 14 shows to the tour, which still did not include his country.

He referenced three of Swift’s songs—Anti-Hero, I Know Places, and Cruel Summer—in his now-viral tweet, which has garnered over 5 million hits as of writing.

Dagur B. Eggertsson, the mayor of Reykjavik, Iceland, also replied to the same tweet on the same day, saying that his city would be "the perfect stop-over at the end of the tour."

"As the mayor of Reykjavik, I would personally ensure that you would have a wonderful time," he added.

Chile

Chilean President Gabriel Boric, a self-proclaimed Swiftie, also has his hopes up for a Taylor Swift concert in his country.

“I wrote to her not too long ago, let’s see if she responds, so that one day she can include us in her Latin America tour,” he said in a YouTube video uploaded in late June, translated to English. “One day, she’ll listen to the Chilean Swifties, and I have no doubt she’ll come to Chile. Hopefully sometime within the next three years.”

Although neighboring countries like Brazil and Argentina will get to see the renowned artist live, Chile is still not part of Swift's Latin America leg.

Hungary

Budapest’s mayor, Gergely Karácsony, penned a letter calling on Swift to include Hungary in her Europe leg.

In a Facebook post on June 23, Karácsony shared a picture of him holding the said letter in his hands. "I wrote a letter to Taylor Swift! Although Budapest is not currently among the Eras Tour stops, I know that many of you love it, so I will do my best to make you visit us as well. We hope for the best!" he captioned his photo.

In Asia, Thailand prime minister hopeful Pita Limjaroenrat also took to the bird app and invited Swift to perform in Bangkok.

“Hey Taylor! Big fan of yours. Btw, Thailand is back on track to be fully democratic after you had to cancel last time due to the coup. The Thai people have spoken via the election and we all look forward to welcoming you to this beautiful nation of ours!” Limjaroenrat said, noting that if Swift decides to visit the country, he would be happy to sing Lavender Haze with her.

Swift was supposed to bring her Red Tour to Bangkok in June 2014, but it was canceled due to the political coup in the country.

Aside from SingaporeJapan is the only other Asian country where The Eras Tour will take place.

Swift announced The Eras Tour in November last year, describing it as a journey through the musical eras of her career thus far. The ongoing first leg will run from March 18 to Aug. 5 at stadiums across the United States. It's set to conclude in August 2024.
