Liza Soberano reveals she is now a SAG member
Liza Soberano continues to cement her place in the Hollywood industry as she revealed that she is now a member of the Screen Actors Guild (SAG).
In a media interview shared by entertainment reporter MJ Marfori, the local star confirmed that she is now a part of the American labor union because of her participation in her first Hollywood film, Lisa Frankenstein.
When asked what this entails for her, Liza explained, "The union acts like an agency that protects actors in all shapes and forms. It just means you have a community of people that are constantly there to help push you and find different opportunities."
The SAG is known to represent over 100,000 film and television principal and background performers worldwide. To join, you must be an actor for a minimum of one day on a project under a producer's agreement with SAG and pay an initiation fee as well as other basic dues.
Apart from protecting actors, SAG also recognizes outstanding performances in movie and prime time television through their annual awards show, which Liza attended last Feb. 25.
For its 30th edition, the actress donned a Pamella Roland gown with a sequined tube bodice and a satin champagne-toned skirt.
When asked about the recently concluded event, Liza recalled how she felt when she saw some Hollywood's biggest stars in the flesh.
"I didn't know what to expect and it turned out to be such a star-studded event, so I was surprised to see how many big names were there," she said
"I was really excited just to be like amongst such incredible talent and to see everybody in the flesh. Meryl Streep was there, Anne Hathaway, and Oprah Winfrey was literally like right there, I could grab her if I wanted to but of course, I didn’t," she continued.
Liza shared that even though she "freaked out on the inside," she had to remain professional and pretend like she was one of them.
The Filipina star is currently pursuing a career in Hollywood. She recently made her international debut via the comedy horror film Lisa Frankenstein, for which she got high praise from local celebrities and international film critics.
