Sorry, Miranda Priestly stans—Anne Hathaway thinks 'Devil Wears Prada 2' isn't going to happen

Wouldn't you love to see Meryl Streep as Miranda Priestly on the big screen again? Sadly, The Devil Wears Prada star Anne Hathaway doesn't think it's possible in this era.

In an interview on The View, the actress said the 2006 movie was "in a different era." Hathaway starred as Andy Sachs, a journalism graduate who lands a job at a fashion magazine run by the ruthless Miranda.

"I don't know if there can be [a sequel]... Now everything's gone so digital and that movie is centered around the concept of producing a physical thing and it's just, it's just very different," she said.

The actress even gave some ideas for what could happen in the sequel. "It is tempting to think about Andy and Emily (Emily Blunt) needing to get Miranda her coffee and she's somewhere in Europe and then along the way they pick up Stanley Tucci in Italy, who's at a restaurant."

"It's tempting, but I don't think it's going to happen," she said, adding that the movie could be "relaunch[ed]" with "new people."

Recently, Hathaway joined an online debate about who the real villain of The Devil Wears Prada really was. Despite Miranda being a difficult boss, fans thought that Andy's boyfriend Nate was actually the big baddie in the film, as he wasn't as supportive of her grueling job.

"I think that they were both very young and figuring things out, and he did behave like a brat, but I also behaved like a brat in my 20s and I hopefully grew out of it and I think that that’s what we all do. I wouldn’t want to be defined by my worst moment in my 20s, certainly, so I don’t hold Nate as a villain actually," the actress said.

Directed by David Frankel, The Devil Wears Prada was a box office smash, earning $326 million worldwide. It even landed Streep an Oscar nomination for best actress.
