Taylor Swift’s short film ‘All Too Well’ is eligible for an Oscar – report
Singer-turned-filmmaker Taylor Swift might just set a new milestone in her career with All Too Well: The Short Film.
The 14-minute short film written and directed by Taylor Swift starring Stranger Things' Sadie Sink, Dylan O’ Brien and Swift herself has been qualified to be nominated in the upcoming Oscars Academy Award 2023 ceremony for Best Live Action Short Film category.
The short film also had the potential to qualify for the Academy Awards’ Best Picture category, however the release date of the project makes it ineligible as films selected must be released no earlier than the calendar year preceding the Oscar ceremony according to The Hollywood Reporter.
If Swift is indeed nominated, she'll be one step away from potential EGOT status, referring to the achievement of having won all four of the major American entertainment awards (i.e. an Emmy, a Grammy, an Oscar, and a Tony).
All Too Well: The Short Film premiered on November 13, 2021 following the release of Swift's second re-recorded album, Red (Taylor’s Version). The song is a break-up ballad that depicts the short-lived relationship of a couple, also compounded by a 9-year age gap, whose ups and downs led to them falling apart.
The 32-year-old singer-songwriter is currently in talks with a top consulting firm to guide the project’s awards campaign. Nominations for next year’s 95th Academy Awards is set to be revealed on January 24, 2023 and the ceremony will be on March 12, 2023.
