'Lisa Frankenstein' lead Kathryn Newton all praises for co-star Liza Soberano: 'She's always perfect'
Kathryn Newton has nothing but love for Liza Soberano, whom she described as a “professional” and a “gift to the world.”
The Hollywood actress expressed her admiration for Liza, who plays the role of her stepsister Taffy in the upcoming film Lisa Frankenstein, during the cast’s recent interview with Red Carpet Report on Mingle Media TV.
“I love Liza. She is just a gift to the world, this girl. She's the sweetest girl I've ever met in my whole life, and there’s nobody that could play this role [Taffy] except her,” she said.
The 26-year-old actress, who stars as Lisa Swallows in the upcoming rage movie, went on to compare Liza with Taffy, highlighting how “perfect and sweet” Liza is in real life.
“She's such a sweet human, and Taffy is really like a sideways human, kind of sweet, kind of terrible, you're not really sure. But there's nothing about Liza that's not perfect and sweet,” she continued.
Kathryn also praised Liza’s acting skills, saying how professional she is for being able to embody her character at once.
“Working with her has been a lesson because she’s so professional,” she said.
She added, “This girl cries on command, she is funny on command, and she's always perfect. Working with her is so much fun.”
Prior to this, Lisa Frankenstein director Zelda Williams also praised Liza and referred to her as “the biggest star" in her heart.
"I really wanted someone who could play someone so earnest and sweet and loving, and everyone was kind of playing it very mean no matter what notes I gave them," Zelda explained.
"Truthfully, I asked [Liza] myself, I was like, 'Please, will you tape for this. I think you're right for it.' And everyone fell in love with her. She's most people's favorite part of this whole movie," she added.
Lisa Frankenstein follows a misunderstood teenager as she reanimates a handsome corpse, who also happens to be her high school crush. The sudden, strange circumstance then leads them to embark on a murderous journey to find love, happiness, "and a few missing body parts along the way."
The film marks the directorial debut of Zelda, the daughter of the late Robin Williams. It was written by Diablo Cody, who also wrote the dark comedy film Jennifer’s Body. The film is set to open in Philippine cinemas on Feb. 7.
