Hunter Schafer, known for her role in Euphoria, was arrested alongside 49 other protesters in New York City.

She joined Jewish Voice for Peace and gathered at 30 Rockefeller Plaza during President Biden's Late Night with Seth Meyers appearance to demand the US president stop funding and arming the Israeli government’s genocide of Palestinians in Gaza.

A representative from JVP confirmed that Hunter was indeed among the arrested. They shared photos where Hunter can be seen wearing a shirt that says "Ceasefire Now."

“Hunter was arrested at the protest, along with 50 other people,” JVP said in a statement. "We commend her commitment to Palestinian freedom and to a future of justice for everyone.”

On Instagram, JVP urged other celebrities and public figures "with large platforms" to stand for Palestinian freedom.

"Now is the time to use your voice. No one on the sidelines. None of us are free until Palestine is free," they wrote.

Several celebrities have faced repercussions after airing their support for Palestinians, including Susan Sarandon who was dropped by the United Talent Agency following her appearance at a pro-Palestinian rally in New York. Bella Hadid revealed on Instagram that she had "so many companies" and even friends drop her. Producers also dropped Melissa Barrera from the film Scream 7 following her posts about the war in Gaza.

In response to Hunter's arrest, some users emphasized the importance of celebrities speaking up, while others lauded the Hunger Games star for what she did despite potential career consequences.

"The amount of courage it takes for a TRANS WOMAN to stand against this, risking her career in the process, is not lost on me," one said.

"Proof celebrities have the ability to speak up. The silent ones have no excuses," another Instagram user wrote.

Someone added: "I really hope the brands she works with doesn’t drop her because of this. Her work is important and everyone should be standing up for innocent people."

"Let’s keep it real, she fully sacrificed her career in Hollywood. Respect," another one said.

Hunter is a longtime advocate for queer and trans liberation. She once challenged North Carolina's HB2 'bathroom bill' with a lawsuit and a compelling op-ed when she was a teen.
