TRENDING: 5 times Ryan Bang had us rolling with laughter on the AAA 2023 red carpet

By Yoniel Acebuche Published Dec 14, 2023 8:43 pm

While the red carpet dazzled with Asian stars, Asia Artist Awards 2023 red carpet host Ryan Bang stole the show with his innocent yet humorous side comments.

Social media users talked about his hosting skills and lauded the It's Showtime host for masterfully switching languages and for his witty commentary. Ryan trended on X on Dec. 14 with more than 59,900 tweets as of writing.

From "Sana mag-guest kayo sa Showtime" to "Parang may pasok pa sila," here are some of Ryan Bang's hilarious yet memorable Pinoy humor in this year's AAA.

'Sana mag-guest kayo sa Showtime'

Ryan could not help but show his fanboy side towards the South Korean boy band STRAY KIDS, dropping a subtle invitation for the latter to appear on It's Showtime, a popular noontime show that he hosts.

As the boy group walked the red carpet, he said, "Sana mag-guest kayo sa Showtime."

Comedic banter with Melai Cantiveros

Melai Cantiveros brought her signature wit and a dazzling pink floor-length dress to the prestigious awards ceremony, but her playful banter with Ryan had everyone talking on X.

When the Ma’am Chief: Shakedown in Seoul actress made her way to the center of the photo area, Ryan said, "Tumingin ka sa harap. 'wag sa akin. Mag-pose ka, ipapalabas 'yan sa Korea kaya ayusin mo ang pose mo."

He then throw another joke at Melai saying, "Bakit kay Melai kaunti lang ang pinipicturan ng mga press ng Korea?"

“Ngayon naman tumingin ka sa likod," he ended.

'Sobrang gwapo, grabe'

Ryan was every Kim Seon Ho fan when he expressed how much he adored the Korean drama's good boy's good looks. "Sobrang gwapo, grabe," he said.

He also showed "favoritism" towards the Korean superstar and said, "Lahat ng heart gusto mo, take your time, basta ikaw Kim Seon Ho, yes!"

A certified Bunny

Hosting this kind of event is a fan's dream, and Ryan, who is a fanboy himself, couldn't help to express how glad he was when he met the award-winning South Korean girl group NewJeans composed of Minji, Hanni, Danielle, Haerin, and Hyein.

"Once again Madlang People, New Jeans. Hay sobrang saya ko," the host said.

'Parang may pasok pa sila'

Even Sakurazaka46, formerly Keyakizaka46, was the subject of Ryan's hilarious Pinoy humor when said the Japanese girl group looked like school girls in their outfits.

"Parang may pasok pa sila," he said as the girl group exited the red carpet.

Last May, the TV host opened up about receiving opportunities to start a career in his homeland in South Korea during one of his interviews with ABS-CBN executive Lauren Dyogi.

"Nung close kami ni Ate Dara (Sandara Park), kinausap [ako] dati [nung] company niya, kinukuha sa akin five years training tapos na-meet ko 'yung Lee Soo-man, 'yung pinaka-head ng SM. Gusto talaga nila ako 100% doon,” Ryan recalled.

“Nagpunta pa ako SM Town, nag-one-on-one interview pa kami. Interested talaga sila. Mayroon kasi sila SM ENT. SM kasi K-pop 'yon, SM ENT 'yun 'yung parang pang-TV, pang-komedyante, pang-host,” he continued. However, given its “strict” conditions, the It’s Showtime host decided to turn down the offer to stay in the Philippines.

Ryan started his career in the Philippines after being a runner-up in the Philippine reality show Pinoy Big Brother: Teen Clash in 2010. Since then, he has been a part of the comedy shows Banana Split and 3ow Powhz! and films Girl, Boy, Bakla, Tomboy, Seven Sundays, and Love Is Color Blind. He is also a regular host on the noontime show It's Showtime since 2012.
