Mariah Carey unveils her own holiday-themed Barbie doll and it sells out in hours

All Mariah Carey wanted for Christmas as a kid was a Barbie doll. Now, pop music's "Queen of Christmas" has received much more than what she asked for—a Barbie doll inspired by no other than herself.

On Thursday evening, Nov. 16, Carey announced via PEOPLE that Mattel is releasing the Barbie x Mariah Carey Holiday Celebration Doll, which the toy brand designed with the popular singer's "signature flair and dazzling style."

For starters, the doll glistens in a festive red trumpet gown with ruched overlay and a dramatic slit that altogether resembles Mariah's dress in her second music video of her megahit track, All I Want for Christmas is You.

Similar to her look in the video released in 2019, the Mariah Carey Barbie has red heels that match her gown and a replica of the singer's butterfly ring. The 11.5-inch doll also holds a silver microphone, depicting how the "Songbird Supreme" belted out to her ever-famous holiday track.

Carey said that getting herself Barbie-fied is a dream come true, especially because all she wanted for Christmas as a kid was a Superstar Barbie.

"As a little girl, I didn’t have a lot of toys or things,” Carey told PEOPLE while remembering how she and her mother, opera singer Patricia Carey, used to live in a small house in New York City. "The one thing I really wanted was Superstar Barbie."

The Grammy Award-winning artist did receive not just one, but a couple, of Superstar Barbies. Having the doll made in her likeness many years after is a full-circle moment for the 54-year-old star.

"It’s a once-in-a-lifetime dream to have my own Barbie! If I could go back and tell my little girl self that one day, I would have a Barbie made in my likeness, I think she would flip out!" she quipped.

"I hope all collectors and fans everywhere enjoy the holiday season and hopefully the Mariah Barbie will be a wonderful addition to it!” she added.

The Mariah Carey Barbie went on sale on Friday, Nov. 17, on Mattel's website. As of 8:30 p.m. on Nov. 17 (PHT), the $75 (P4,170) doll has already sold out.

Carey is the latest singer to music icon to get her own Barbie doll following Beyoncé, Tina Turner, Gloria Estefan, and Stevie Nicks.
