How to maximize your condo unit a la Heart Evangelista's chic Ortigas space

Heart Evangelista gave another quick tour of her chic condo unit, sharing some tips on how she was able to maximize every corner of her space.

In a recent vlog, the actress likened it to flats in Paris and New York, which are known to have high ceilings, sliding doors, built-in shelves, marble touches, among other striking details. “We were thinking it was very like a Parisian flat or a New York flat to really maximize the space by adding neutral colors, a touch of really nice curtains to add softness, and I was very lucky that the ceiling is very high,” she said.

Here are other tips that she shared in the new video that showcased the beauty of her Ortigas home.

Go for a huge bed. Even though your bedroom is quite small, a huge bed could make it “very livable” and more cozy. Accompany that with a massive television, which could give you a sense of being in the cinemas as you snuggle up in an oversized blanket.

Make use of built-in shelves for storage and display. For her workspace, Heart opted for built-in shelves where she displays her memorabilia and other things that inspire her. Of course, there are Chanel touches: a framed invite to her very first Chanel show and a column wall with a beveled mirror designed to remind her of the iconic Chanel staircase. “Putting meaning on every little thing is very, very important. At the end of the day, as you do your work, you have to feel very inspired and caffeine high.”

Add touches of white to evoke elegance in your space, but don't make it look too dull. Heart opted for different touches of white not only to make it pleasing to the eyes but also to give it a “luxe feel.” There are also pops of color through her candles and other accents to balance everything out.

Clear home features could elevate certain corners of your home. “I know this is such a struggle for a lot of people, but this is also a reminder for you to keep cleaning your house,” she said with a laugh. “Make sure everything is organized—hindi pwedeng ‘pwede na.’”

Opt for appliances that are easy to move. You can make your guests feel more homey by giving them more space to just chill despite being in a small condo unit. An example of this is an induction stove.

Don’t let space limit you. “You don’t have to have a huge castle or a big home to make a house into a home. It’s how you maximize the space, it’s how you curate your space, and it’s how you make everything beautiful and meaningful around you which will inspire you,” she concluded.

Heart’s condo unit is located at Sapphire Bloc. Her “latest investment,” designed by interior design experts Geewel, Astrid, and Chris of PBELL + A.ID, has one bedroom, a dining area, and an office.
