Kaladkaren makes history as the first trans news anchor in the Philippines

Kaladkaren is making history as the first transgender news anchor in the Philippines. She is now a reporter for TV5's Frontline Pilipinas.

On Friday, June 9, the comedian shared the news on social media, along with a photo with TV5 executives.

“Mas inklusibo na po ang pagbabalita…. Sa wakas, may transgender news anchor na sa PHILIPPINE NEWS!!! Happy Pride!,” Kaladkaren said in her tweet.

She thanked TV5 president Guido Zaballero and News5 chief Luchi Cruz-Valdez for giving her the opportunity.

In the replies, she clarified that she is still part of ABS-CBN's Star Magic family.

She is set to deliver entertainment news updates starting Monday, June 12.

Kaladkaren, who is known for her impersonation of news anchor Karen Davila, is no stranger to anchoring. She previously guested at ABS-CBN's TV Patrol as a Star Patroller, making her the first transgender person to do so.

She is also a well-known TV personality, having hosted shows such as Umagang Kay Ganda and I Can See Your Voice. and judge for Drag Race Philippines.
