Vegan beauty = boring? Never!
Thanks to the growing interest of health-conscious shoppers, vegan cosmetics are now becoming more popular with consumers according to the Global Vegan Cosmetics Market 2019-2023 report by UK-based market research firm TechNavio.
If looking for vegan beauty products years ago was like finding a needle in a haystack, now it’s everywhere—with better formulas at accessible price points.
Vegan vs. Cruelty-Free
These two terms can be confusing, but they’re easy to understand.
According to the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA), “vegan means that the product does not include any animal-derived ingredients,” nor does not contain any animal ingredients.
Cruelty-free on the other hand, means that the product was not tested on animals. If you see that Leaping Bunny logo on your product, then it’s cruelty-free!
Ingredients to watch out for
As mentioned, vegan beauty does not contain animal-derived products such as honey, beeswax, lanolin, collagen, albumen, carmine, cholesterol, gelatin, and many others.
Benefits of using vegan products
A lot of people are becoming more aware about the impact of animal-derived beauty products. Because they’re free of the ingredients mentioned above, vegan makeup is said to be gentler and safer than regular products, also because they’re free of harmful chemicals, metals, and other substances. More so, these are beneficial for those who suffer from various skin diseases, as many vegan products don't contain gluten.
“Vegan cosmetics improve skin health and reduce the chances of acne, dark circles, and other skin abnormalities. Hence, the preference for vegan products is rising among consumers which, in turn, is fueling the growth of the vegan cosmetics market,” the report added.

Strictly speaking, vegan brands are 100% vegan—meaning all of their products are vegan. Whereas for vegan products, well, the brand may not exactly offer a full vegan product list, but have several options.
