It seems like only yesterday when Mexico’s Andrea Meza was crowned Miss Universe 2020 and now, preparations for the 70th Miss Universe is already in full swing.

The Miss Universe Organization and the Israel Ministry of Tourism recently announced that the pageant will air live from the resort city of Eilat on Dec. 12, 7 p.m. Eastern time (Dec. 13, 8 a.m. in the Philippines).

And for pageant fans who want to get first dibs on the competition, the organization also announced that tickets for the live telecast, the preliminary competition and the much-awaited National Costume Competition will go on sale by Nov. 15.

Recently, the Miss Universe Organization also dropped its very first and exclusive NFTs that features images and video clips of historic winners of the competition, the coveted Miss Universe crowns and the candidates competing in this year’s pageant.

This year’s pageant will also see its first candidate from the United Arab Emirates, and the return of Morocco in the competition for the first time in over four decades.

Aside from celebrating its 70-year milestone, the pageant will also put a spotlight on the issue of global warming that aligns with the values of the host country, and the social and global issues that the world is facing today.

Among the performers during the pageant is Israeli singer Noa Kirel.

The contestants, including the Philippines bet, Beatrice Luigi Gomez, will arrive in Israel ahead of the competition and will start their journey in Jerusalem before head to the host city, Eilat.

Gomez, together with the Miss Universe Philippines board of directors recently met with representatives of the Israel Embassy and Ministry of Tourism and talked about Israel-Philippine relations, tourism, innovation, lifestyle and culture.

With its highly successful mass vaccination program that began in December 2020, Israel was able to reopen most sectors of its economy. On Nov. 1, the country opened its borders to fully vaccinated tourists.

Philippine passport holders have a visa-free access to Israel up to 90 days, so hopefully come December, more Filipino pageant fans will be able to watch and support in person Miss Universe Philippines Beatrice Luigi Gomez in the much-awaited competition.
