What are those?
Met Gala is one of the most prestigious and most-waited events of the year, especially for fashion enthusiasts. While there are many who understood the assignment and slayed their way to the prestigious carpet, there will always be someone who will stand out for their outfits that only them will understand.
From Doja Cat’s Choupette look to Lil Nas’ silver-painted "ensemble," PhilSTAR L!fe lists down celebrities in their most eccentric Met Gala outfits this 2023.
Jared Leto and Doja Cat's Choupette look
While this year's Met Gala also celebrates late German fashion icon Karl Lagerfeld, Jared Leto and Doja Cat honored him in a different way—by dressing up as his cat, Choupette.
Jared is seen all dressed up as an enormous and realistically-looking cat costume. Under the furry mascot, he wore an all-black outfit with a cape, semi-sheer blouse, with pleated skirt, and trousers.
Meanwhile, Doja Cat wore a silver-beaded backless Oscar de la Renta gown with a cutesy cat ear as her hood. What makes her look bizarre is that she had facial prosthetics to resemble cat facial features.

Lil Nas X
Not stranger to weird but power looks, American rapper-singer Lil Nas X also arrived as Choupette. Covered in shimmering silver body paint and metallic thong, the rapper definitely made sure to catch everybody's attention—even on the internet. Netizens were quick to react to his appearance, with some calling him like a silver Troll.
Surprise, surprise! Actress and singer Janelle Monáe wore little to nothing underneath her black and white tweed coat by Thom Browne.
At the red carpet, Janelle stripped to reveal a cone-like dress that lets you see through her black sparkling bikini. We're curious to know how she managed to sit in the venue. Many others loved her look, but there were a few who thought she looked like the Mayor from Nightmare Before Christmas.
Who is she? Literally. American singer Erykah Badu walked the red carpet in an all-white fringed ensemble and wig with Chanel-styled beads that perfectly covered up her face. One Twitter user said that she resembled a yeti.
Wearing a plain white Valentino gown with a black sheer ribbon, Florence Pugh made sure to be easily recognized, especially with her shaved head styled with a huge feathered headpiece.
Are those shoe laces? The Driver's License singer made it to the list of celebrities in bizarre outfits for her black and white stringy dress with flower appliqués by Thom Browne.
