Reina Hispanoamericana 2021 PH bet Emmanuelle Vera stuns in Maureen Wroblewitz’s ‘bangus-inspired’ national costume

Emmanuelle Vera dazzled in the Louie Pangilinan avant-garde Filipiniana ensemble for the Reina Hispanoamericana 2021 beauty pageant National Costume presentation. Maureen Wroblewitz first wore the piece during the Miss Universe Philippines (MUPH) 2021 pageant, where she placed first runner-up.

The Bolivia-based Reina Hispanoamericana beauty pageant is in full swing, and Philippines bet Emmanuelle Vera is having a grand time with the pre-pageant activities.

The candidates, who are from over 20 countries and territories, have been doing their press rounds, photo shoots, and most recently, presentation of their national costumes.

Vera wowed in an elaborate silver ensemble that pageant fans and avid watchers may recognize as the “bangus-inspired” National Costume of Maureen Wroblewitz during the Miss Universe Philippines 2021 in September.

In an Instagram post, Vera wrote that the national costume designed by Louie Pangilinan represents the “hardworking Filipino fishermen who strive to thrive and succeed amid the increasingly tumultuous times. This opulent ensemble celebrates the strength and perseverance of the Filipino to overcome the difficulties they face, and represents hope for better times.”

The costume has a fish fin structured train, silver tassel, and a scale-like headdress by Marvin Creates Crown Connoisseur II. According to Pangilinan’s post for the MUPH 2021 pageant, the piece was hand-embellished with silver beads, crystals and sequins to represent the “rich and fine salt beds” of Pangasinan, the province, which Wroblewitz represented in the pageant.

Popular pageant expert Norman Tinio of normannorman.com weighed in on the matter, saying that Pangilinan shared the ensemble to Vera for the Reina Hispanoamericana pageant.

“This is a perfectly understandable move because our bet had barely two weeks of preparation for the pageant in Bolivia,” Tinio wrote in his blog.

He added, “Creating a new natcos (national costume) from scratch would require a lot longer time than what can be possibly allowed.”

Vera won the Reina Hispanoamericana Filipinas 2021 title during the Miss World Philippines pageant on Oct. 3. Just two weeks after bagging the title, she was already off to Santa Cruz del Sierra, Bolivia to represent the country and hopefully clinch the Reina Hispanoamericana crown for the second time for the Philippines on the coronation night happening on Oct. 30.

Before leaving for Bolivia, Vera posted on Instagram that despite having a short time to prepare for the pageant, she was ready to represent the Philippines.

Teresita Ssen “WinWyn” Marquez was the first Philippine representative and the only Asian candidate in the pageant, was crowned Reina Hispanoamericana 2017.
