For her swan song as Miss Universe Philippines 2021, Beatrice Luigi Gomez wowed the audience with a purple gown from top fashion designer Francis Libiran.
"As I walked with pride as Miss Universe Philippines for one last time I finally got to wear the last creation of Francis Libiran," Gomez wrote in an Instagram post on May 1. "Thank you for always giving me the strength and confidence to shine in my uniqueness through your beautiful work."
In his own Instagram post, Libiran said the gown is inspired by the "vast beauty of cosmos," intricately embroidered with pearls and crystals.
Libiran has been Gomez's collaborator throughout her Miss Universe journey. He made the beauty queen's red gown during the pageant preliminaries in Israel, as well as her Pintados-inspired golden gown when she made it to the Top 10. She bowed out as among the Top 5 contestants.
Gomez also recalled fitting the purple gown on the morning of her departure to Israel.
"[I[f only I could wear all the gowns to the competition," she said, but her retrospective self noted that "there really is a perfect time for everything."
"[I]n this case, it was fit for me to wear it in welcoming Celeste Cortesi into the MUPH sisterhood," she said. Cortesi, who hails from Pasay, was crowned as Gomez's successor last April 30.
Earlier in the coronation night, Gomez, the country's first openly bisexual beauty queen, also dazzled in Libiran's bespoke wool brocade suit.
The Miss Universe Philippines 2022 coronation night was held at the SM Mall of Asia Arena. It was hosted by past Miss U titleholders Pia Wurtzbach (2015), Iris Mittenaere (2016), and Demi-Leigh Tebow (2017).
