LIST: LGUs that have secured deals with pharmaceuticals for COVID-19 vaccines

Metro Manila

Caloocan City

Caloocan City Mayor Oca Malapitan has signed a deal of acquiring 600,000 doses of AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccines for its residents.

"Tuluy-tuloy ang ating paghahanda para sa pagbili ng bakuna kontra Covid-19. Nakikipag-ugnayan tayo sa mga pharmaceutical company upang matiyak na makakakuha tayo ng bakuna pag ito ay aprubado na ng Inter-Agency Task Force at Food and Drug Administration," said Oca.

Mandaluyong City

Last Jan. 6, a tripartite deal was signed between the city government of Mandaluyong, AstraZeneca, and the national government. COVID-19 vaccines worth P200 million were purchased, but the exact number of doses that the city will receive was not mentioned.

Manila City

The Manila Public Information Office announced on Monday morning, Jan. 11, that Mayor Francisco 'Isko Moreno' Domagoso has officially signed a deal for 800,000 vaccine doses from AstraZeneca, a British-Swedish pharmaceutical firm.

Domagoso also signed for the acquisition of 12 refrigeration units, which will be able to store many COVID-19 brands such as Pfizer, AstraZeneca, Moderna, Johnson & Johnson, Novavax and Sinovac, among others.

The Manila mayor also signed documents for the acquisition of 50 transport cooler units for the vaccines and also announced that Manila City will build a new storage facility for the refrigerators soon.

Likewise, the City of Manila has also started accepting registrants to reserve their slots for the free vaccination for the coronavirus disease, which they can do so on this website.

Muntinlupa City

Another LGU that signed with AstraZeneca is Muntinlupa City. According to the city’s official Facebook page, Mayor Jaime Fresnedi has already closed a deal of 100,000 doses for “high priority groups.”

Navotas City

By the second half of the year, first 50,000 residents of Navotas City will be inoculated with COVID-19 vaccines from AstraZeneca. This is after Mayor Toby Tiangco was able to secure 100,000 doses of vaccine.

Pasig City

AstraZeneca was also recently signed by another LGU.

Early this morning, Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto tweeted that Pasig City has ordered 400,000 coronavirus vaccine doses from the British-Swedish pharmaceutical firm.

He wrote, "Actual quantity and date of delivery will depend on several factors." Sotto added, "We'll buy from others too as opportunities arise."

Last Jan. 4, Sotto announced that the city has allotted around P300 million for the vaccines, which will be given priority to healthcare workers and senior citizens.

"Kung ilan po ang available sa market at kung ilan ang kaya ng budget, gagawin po natin. I assure everyone that we will be very transparent with our procurement process once may presyo na, kung ilan, anong brand (there's a set price, number of doses, and brand),” he said.

As of today, Pasig City has only spent P100 million for the AstraZeneca vaccines.

Parañaque City

200,000 doses of AstraZeneca vaccine were secured by The City Government of Parañaque, which will be distributed for free. Aside from that, the city has allocated an initial budget of P250 million for its COVID-19 vaccination program.

It was also mentioned in the statement that the city has expressed interest in acquiring vaccines from other reputable drug manufacturers such as Janssen, Pfizer/BioNTech, and Moderna.

San Juan City

The City of San Juan has inked a deal to acquire 100,000 doses of COVID-19 vaccines that will be used to inoculate 50,000 San Juaeños. More funds for the vaccine will be allotted, through the City Council, should the constituents need more.

Taguig City

Taguig City adds to the list of LGUs that has signed with British-Swedish pharmaceutical firm, AstraZenica in the acquisition COVID-19 vaccines.

In a statement, Mayor Lino Cayetano said, “The national government’s allotment will come first. We expect it during the first quarter but that will be for medical frontliners and the vulnerable sectors so we have already been preparing our vaccination sites and vaccination protocols."

“We want however ALL Taguigeños to have access to the COVID vaccine. ALL LGU procurement of vaccines, we are told will come AFTER the national government allotment and that will be sometime during the last quarter of 2021,” he added.

Currently, Taguig has a budget of P1 billion for the vaccine and another P13.5 billion for their 2021 recovery fund.

Valenzuela City

Yesterday, Jan. 10, Valenzuela City Mayor Rex Gatchalian announced on his official Facebook Page that Valenzuela City has officially signed a deal with AstraZeneca Pharmaceuticals Philippines for the advance purchase of 640,000 AstraZeneca vaccine doses.

"The City Government of Valenzuela has already started preparing for the #VCVax Valenzuela City Vaccine Roll-out Plan. With the AstraZeneca vaccines, 320,000 individuals will be vaccinated, which is 70% of the target population of the city (18 years old below are excluded)," he wrote.

Gatchalian also noted that Valenzuela wll be "one of the first City Governments" to roll out AstraZeneca. The vaccines are said to arrive around  July 2021.

Outside Metro Manila

Baguio City

On Monday, Jan. 11, Baguio City Mayor Benjamin Magalong announced that the city government has made a deal with AstraZeneca, a British-Swedish pharmaceutical firm, for the procurement of coronavirus vaccines that will benefit a total of 190,000 individuals, or residents that are aged 18 and above.

"The mayor said that AstraZeneca initially planned to supply doses good for only 50,000 persons for the city but the company subsequently approved the mayor's request to increase the allocation to cover 70% of the target population and enable the city to establish herd immunity against the Coronavirus disease (COVID-19)," City of Baguio's Public Information Office said.

In addition to that, Baguio City is also negotiating with other international pharmaceutical companies and private companies for more vaccine provisions. A total of 33,000 doses were already secured from private companies which include the local chapter of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry and locators in the Philippine Economic Zone Authority in the city.

A total of P100 million is allocated for the Baguio City's vaccination program.

Iloilo City

On Jan. 10, Iloilo City Mayor Jerry Treñas signed a multilateral agreement with AstraZeneca for the purchase of 600,000 doses of COVID-19 vaccines. 

"After a year since this pandemic started, this is a sign of hope that we are closer to our lives before Covid-19," Treñas wrote.

While the city only has four (4) active COVID-19 cases, this effort will "save lives" and "loved ones will be protected," Treñas said in another post.

Vigan City

Vigan CIty also signed yesterday, Jan. 10, an agreement for the advance purchase of 100,000 to 120,000 doses of AstraZeneca vaccines.

In a statement by Mayor Carlo Medina, he said that they ordered "enough" doses to vaccinate residents aged 18 and above. He also said, "This will bring back confidence in tourism activities, vibrancy in our economy, and most of all, assurance of our health, safety, and security."

On Jan. 6, President Rodrigo Duterte allowed LGUs to enter into tripartite agreements with the national government, Department of Health, and vaccine manufacturers, which will allow them to purchase COVID-19 vaccines in advance.

Other local government units have also secured a budget for the inoculation of their residents.
