Dr. Fauci, other experts, debunk claim of Nicki Minaj that COVID-19 jab caused infertility
Faster than a heartbeat runnin’ away, a chorus of top infectious disease experts has debunked the wild claim of Nicki Minaj that a COVID-19 jab of her cousin’s friend led to infertility and swollen testicles.
Minaj said on Twitter that due to the alleged incident, her cousin now refuses to be vaccinated.
My cousin in Trinidad won’t get the vaccine cuz his friend got it & became impotent. His testicles became swollen. His friend was weeks away from getting married, now the girl called off the wedding. So just pray on it & make sure you’re comfortable with ur decision, not bullied

Her tweet also came on the heels of her decision to skip the recently concluded MET Gala, which required all its attendees to get vaccinated against coronavirus. “They want you to get vaccinated for the Met. If I get vaccinated, it won’t [be] for the Met. It’ll be once I feel I’ve done enough research,” she tweeted.

“There’s no evidence that it happens, nor is there any mechanistic reason to imagine that it would happen,” Dr. Anthony Fauci told CNN, as per NBC News.
He also stressed that it’s important to give out correct information to counter mis and disinformation about COVID-19 and “to essentially debunk these kinds of claims, which may be innocent on her part.”
“I’m not blaming her for anything but she should be thinking twice about propagating information that really has no basis,” he continued.
AFP also reported that UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson and his chief medical officer Chris Whitty weighed in on the singer’s statement. When asked about it in a press briefing, Johnson said that he was “not as familiar with the works of Nicki Minaj as I probably should be” and that he would rather listen to “superstar GP” Nikki Kanani, who has played an active role in the vaccine campaign of the government.
Whitty, for his part, said “There are a number of myths that fly around, some of which are just clearly ridiculous. Some are clearly designed just to scare. That happens to be one of them.”
The health minister of Trinidad and Tobago has also debunked the singer’s claim. “As we stand now, there is absolutely no reported side effect or adverse event of testicular swelling in Trinidad, and none that we know of anywhere in the world,” Terrence Deyalsingh said in a press conference, as reported by The Guardian.
It can be noted that Minaj revealed in a separate tweet that she tested positive for the infection after doing her preps for the 2021 MTV Video Music Awards.
