Pia Wurtzbach talks about honoring her body no matter its size, shape, and appearance

Even highly esteemed beauty queens can be just like us—this includes Pia Wurtzbach, who has given her 12 million followers an uplifting break from all the flawless snaps we come across on Instagram.

Early this year, the former Miss Universe talked about getting so conscious about her chest size that she reached the point of considering breast reduction. “Bata pa ako, nai-insecure na talaga ako sa katawan ko, especially dito,” she said in her IG stories. “There was a time when I was much younger na I was thinking about it. But then, hindi ko siya tinuloy kasi nalaman ko na malaki yung mga scars na maiiwan niya. So buti nalang.”

Beyond that, however, she came to an empowering realization: “Hindi ako dapat magpapaapekto sa mga sinasabi ng ibang tao. So I accepted myself nalang.”

She has since continued to embrace her body and its natural processes. Just recently, the actress took to social media to highlight some features that represent the changes in her body, stressing that they’re not at all bad.

While she admittedly had second thoughts on sharing the photo as she’s “been called so many names over the years,” Pia declared she has gained a much better perspective on the matter: “This body has carried me through life, and I will honor it—cellulite, jiggles, and all.”

Such thought could serve as a reminder of how contagious realness could be. As Pia said, weight, filters, and other’s opinions don’t define us. Perhaps, when our so-called imperfections bring us a great deal of frustration, we can think about how our bodies evolve incredibly and make us feel alive.
