Meet the guy who stole Rabiya Mateo's heart
Beauty pageant fans all over the country all wanted to know who the newly crowned Miss Universe Philippines Rabiya Mateo is. But aside from her story, her childhood, and her past, what some are also interested to find out more about is her love life.
While Mateo doesn’t reveal much about her personal life (on social media at least!), we did, however, find a few things about her love life—including who her boyfriend is. Check it out below.
She is in a relationship
In an interview with reporter Dyan Castillejo, the beauty queen revealed that she is currently in a relationship. We later on learned that her boyfriend is named Neil Johnfel Salvacion, and that they've been together for six years now. "I can make a man stay," she said to Castillejo. He is her first boyfriend.
Her boyfriend is a frontliner
Mateo and Salvacion first met at the Iloilo Doctor's College. Mateo took up bachelor of science in Physical Therapy, while Salvacion took Nursing. Now, her boyfriend is a nurse at a hospital in Quezon City.

She vowed she'd never leave him
"Always look back to where you came from" and "never forget the people who were with you when you were still a nobody"—these were the words Mateo's mentors told her when she was starting out in the beauty pageant industry. And ever since then, Mateo learned to appreciate more the people around her—including her boyfriend. “My boyfriend and I made a promise that whatever happens, we should stick together," she told Ricky Lo.
