According to India Today, Atul and the Padgaonkar twins have known each other since childhood.

The twins lived with their mother after their father died. When their mother fell ill, Atul reportedly got closer to them, as they take his car in bringing their mother to the hospital.

In a video being circulated in social media, Atul and his brides perform the traditional varmala or garland ceremony. Free Press Journal also shared the clip in question.

But the wedding was, apparently, a violation of local laws.

The Indian Penal Code's Section 494 prohibits marrying again during the lifetime of the spouse. This constitutes . Offenders shall be punished with a fine and/or imprisonment.

The National Women's Commission and the Maharashtra women's body have also called for action against the trio, NDTV reported.
