Valentine's Day events in the Metro where you can win at being single

Another Valentine's Day, another "alone time" for the singles—or maybe not.

February 14 of every year may be swarming with red hearts, pink bouquets, and greeting cards with "I love you" in big bold letters, but that doesn't mean it has to be another dreary "single awareness day" for the unattached.

You can turn every Valentine's Day into an opportunity to maximize the perks of being single by attending concerts, hanging out with your friends, or going out to meet a potential partner or two.

Got no plans yet? Here are some of the Valentine's Day activities that you can check out in the Metro with no boyfriend or girlfriend required.

Who says kilig is only for couples on Valentine's Day? Single folks like you can get love high this season, too, with Singles Events Manila's Wicked Masquerade Party.

The local matchmaking service's pre-Valentine's Day singles mixer is happening on Feb. 11, 3 to 6 p.m., at the Wicked Dogs in Bonifacio Global City. This affair offers both members and non-members of Singles Events Manila a night of "activities that will quickly connect you with other singles, speed dating rounds, and prizes."

The admission fee for members is P499 while those who would only like to join this event can start registering for P1,499 through Singles Events Manila's WhatsApp channel.

The Dessert Museum's Sweet Meet

The best love is the one that's unexpected, they say. Probably, these are the ones that start in a university library, in the gym, or maybe during a jeepney ride. But wouldn't it be sweet to find your future S.O. in a place that's, well, literally full of sweets?

Expect to get an extra cheesy Valentine's Day when you celebrate it at The Dessert Museum on Feb. 15. At 6 p.m. of that day, the interactive gallery will be holding a speed dating event titled "Sweet Meet" where, it said, "no singles are left behind."

The event is organized in partnership with JCI Manila, with a fee of P599 per person. There are only limited slots to this event so better register here today.

Sama-Sama Tayo: A Valentine's gig para sa mga kapwa Single

Let's face it. Nobody understands the perks and pains of being single more than someone single too. That is why this heart's day, Through Habit Store & Cafe is throwing an intimate acoustic gig for singles featuring musicians who've had their fair share of experiences of being unattached.

Titled “Sama-Sama Tayo: A Valentine’s gig para sa kapwa Single,” the event will feature local artists Janine Teñoso, Shanne Dandan, Deny, Dani Idea, and Hannah Dela Rosa as they help you celebrate singlehood through their songs and stories of their own lives. It is set to take place on Feb. 14, 7:30 p.m., at the Through Habit Store & Cafe at 745 Aurora Boulevard, Quezon City.

Admission costs P600 and is inclusive of drinks (alcoholic and non-alcoholic) and cocktail food. You can sign up here.

Valentine's Day Singles Night at Winedrop

Who says you need a beau when you've got wine to make you happy throughout the night? Winos taking a solo flight on Valentine's Day can make the most of the holiday at Winedrop.

The go-to place for booze lovers will be holding an event for single folks where you can simply un-wine-d to a fine dining experience alone or with some pals.

Aptly titled "Valentine's Day Singles Night," the event comes with a fee of P2,500 per person inclusive of two white wines, two red wines, and cocktail food.

It's happening at Winedrop branches in Greenhills, located at 2F One Kennedy Place in San Juan, and in Makati at the ground floor of the G&A Building in Chino Roces Ext.

10 Days of Art's free museum guided tours
UP Vargas/Museum

Valentine's Day is the time to celebrate all kinds of love, including your love for your barkada and art. Make Feb. 14 memorable (and educational) for you and your squad this year by heading to museums that offer free guided tours.

The UP Vargas Museum and Metropolitan Museum of Manila are both offering free guided group tours on Valentine's Day as part of Art Fair Philippines' "10 Days of Art" program this year.

Those who will avail of the service in UP Vargas Museum will be toured around its four current exhibitions: You Betrayed the Party Just When You Should Have Helped It, the Vargas Museum Permanent Collection, The PCGG Artworks Collection, and Objects of Study; and Jorge B. Vargas: A Collecting Life.

A regular guided tour in the museum costs P200 per group of 10 or fewer but on Feb. 14 to 17, guests can avail of the service by just paying for the museum's regular entrance fees: P20 for UP staff, P40 for alumni, and P50 for non-UP visitors. You and your friends can register here.

Meanwhile, the Metropolitan Museum is offering a free 30-minute guided tour on Feb. 10-11 and 14-18 at 2 p.m. Registration is required a day before your visit through this link. The museum is located at 30th Street, Bonifacio Global City, Taguig City.

Another goofproof way to forget about being single on Valentine's Day is to attend concerts that will allow you to scream, sing, dance, and just enjoy the night away.

If this sounds like a good idea to you, head to UP's "Kaisa Ka Sa Musika" fair on Feb. 14 as the five-day university-led concert will be featuring some of OPM's most popular bands on that day.

The Valentine's concert, titled "REV", will be headlined by Sandwich, Moonstar88, Quest, and The Juans, to name a few. Second-liners you can sing your heart out to include Imago, Pedicab, Gracenote, Banda ni Kleggy, and Hey June!

It will start at 4 p.m. on UP Diliman's Sunken Grandstand, with a fee of P150 for UP students and P250 for non-UP guests who will purchase tickets online. Meanwhile, admission for walk-in guests costs P200 for UP students and P300 for non-UP concertgoers.
