LOOK: Hidilyn Diaz’s barbell-inspired engagement ring from Julius Naranjo

When news about the engagement of Hidilyn Diaz and her weightlifting coach Julius Naranjo broke over the weekend, it was hard not to notice her striking barbell-inspired ring. 

Custom-made for the weightlifting champ who bagged the country’s first-ever Olympic gold medal, Naranjo popped the question with a gold bling that he himself helped design. It’s made with “Tokyo 2020” in the band and a brilliant diamond on top.

According to Manila Diamond Studio, it was inspired by Diaz’s love, strength, and passion. “In collaboration with Coach @imjulius, we brought life to what could only be the perfect ring for her. Another gold for our champ!” 

The lovely couple happily announced their engagement on Saturday, Oct. 16 after four years of dating. They met at the 2017 Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan, where Naranjo felt “inspired to see her willpower, her way of fighting towards the top, working hard.” Know more about their love story by clicking the story link below.
