2023 is starting with a bang for Big Bang VIP and BTS ARMY, as members of the two iconic K-pop boy bands are confirmed to be collaborating on a new single this month.

On Tuesday, Jan. 4, Big Bang's Taeyang announced that his new single "Vibe" featuring BTS' Jimin is slated for release on Jan. 13 at 2 p.m. KST (1 p.m. PHT).

The teaser photo, which Taeyang shared in his tweet, features him and Jimin in matching punk rock outfits and has earned 2.3 million views, 65,600 retweets, and 146,900 likes two hours since it was released at 1 p.m.

The announcement comes a day after Taeyang signed with his new record label, The Black Label, which is a subsidiary of the artist's former agency YG Entertainment. Taeyang parted ways with YG in December of last year.

While The Black Label and BTS' agency BigHit Music have yet to reveal more details about the song, word has it that the track is part of Taeyang's upcoming solo album to be released this January.

Rumors of their collaboration and Taeyang's upcoming album began circulating in December of last year. If things go as planned, it will be the artist's first album in six years since he released his EP White Night in August 2017.

Jimin is likewise reported to be working on his solo album since BTS announced that they will be pursuing individual projects on June 14, 2022.

While BigHit has kept plans for its upcoming projects under wraps, Korean newspaper Hankook Ilbo reported that Park Ji-won, CEO of BigHit's parent company Hybe, revealed during the company's third-quarter earnings conference that BTS members Jimin, Suga, Jungkook, and V are scheduled to release their solo albums in 2023.
