Trigger warning: Mentions suicide & substance abuse

American rock band Daughtry’s lead vocalist Chris Daughtry and his wife Deanna Daughtry have recently shared the details of their stepdaughter Hannah Price’s death two months after the incident.

In a statement released to PEOPLE, Daughtry’s family said that Price was found dead by hanging on Nov. 12, 2021 in her house in Fentress County, Tennessee “while under the influence of narcotics.” She was 25.

The family decided to confirm the news to the public after authorities have conducted a thorough investigation of Price’s death.

The statement also detailed the events that happened prior to Price’s death, saying Price had phoned to her parents after being allegedly assaulted by her boyfriend the morning of her death. Daughtry and his wife contacted the police, who performed a wellness check on the singer’s stepdaughter around 1PM and left after deeming Price “was OK.”

The Daughtrys have junked rumors that Price’s boyfriend, who found the singer’s stepdaughter hanged that day, was the cause of her death. The report read: “Our beloved Daughter Hannah Price passed away on November 12th, 2021. Much speculation has been made since that date, and after a full investigation by law enforcement we are now able to speak in further detail. It has been determined that there is no evidence of foul play.”

Price was said to have suffered from mental illnesses. The American Idol alum and his wife wrote: “From a young age, Hannah struggled with mental illness and was in and out of therapy and treatment centers. As Hannah got older, she struggled to find her footing and began using drugs and often found herself abusive relationships.”

“Just months after losing her biological father to suicide, Hannah was the victim of a crime and was shot in the face. We did everything we could to support her and get her the help she needed to recover from these tragedies and get her life back on track. We had just recently made plans with Hannah for her to seek further treatment and move closer to the family," the Daughtrys shared.

The family is still in mourning over the loss of Price. They added: “Hannah was a generous and loving person who wanted more for herself and others. She will forever be in the hearts and minds of those of us who love her.”

The day after Price’s death, singer Daughtry posted on Instagram how he was “absolutely devastated and heartbroken” and how their family is attempting to “heal from this devastating loss.”

The Home singer wrote: “I just recently lost my mother to cancer but I was blessed with the chance to say goodbye and I was processing it privately. We never got to say goodbye to our precious Hannah and it’s another huge hit to our family. Thank you all for your kind words and condolences. They are truly felt and appreciated.”

Price is Deanna’s child from a previous relationship. Apart from her parents, she is survived by sister Rosa and half-siblings Adalynn Rose, Noah James, and Liam.
