Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. is set to appoint his longtime spokesperson Vic Rodriguez as Executive Secretary when he assumes the presidency next month.

In a statement released on Sunday, May 22, the presumptive president’s camp announced that Rodriguez has “formally relinquished his post as spokesperson of Marcos to prepare for his new assignment.”

“Who can say no to President-elect Bongbong Marcos? It is an honor working with him, whom I have known for a very long time and I believe will serve the country efficiently and with unquestioned devotion,” said Rodriguez.

“It is very flattering to work alongside the best person I’ve known,” he added.

“I thanked President-elect Bongbong Marcos for the trust and confidence. Rest assured that our team will work doubly hard for the success of his six-year presidency,” declared Rodriguez.

Under the position, the lawyer—who also worked for the Integrated Bar of the Philippines as Deputy General Counsel—will be known as the head and the highest-ranking official of the Office of the President.

According to the Comelec’s unofficial tally, Marcos Jr.—the son of late dictator Ferdinand Marcos—gained at least 31 million votes, scoring a landslide presidential election victory in the May 9 polls.

The transition of power is slated for June 30.
