Reporter says 'tindahan' instead of 'simbahan,' suppresses laughter during viral live report
A local television reporter just had Pinoy netizens up in stitches with her live report, which has now turned viral.
During state-run PTV's morning newscast "Rise and Shine Pilipinas" on March 2, correspondent Louisa Erispe was reporting about the observance of Ash Wednesday at Quiapo church when she lost it after uttering a wrong word at the tail-end of her story.
Erispe was initially telling anchor Chi Atienza-Valdepeñas that churchgoers have been practicing physical distancing as they stood on the church's markers, and that authorities need not approach them anymore for their self-discipline.
But just before wrapping up her report, Erispe had a bit of a slip-up
"Makikita natin na kahit nasa labas sila ng tindahan," Erispe said, when she meant "simbahan" or church. She immediately corrected herself, but by then was already in stitches.
"Iyon na muna ang latest," Erispe said, as she turned to her side coughing after trying to stifle her laughter.
The camera returned to Atienza-Valdepeñas, who also couldn't stop herself from cracking up.
A certain Elishua Balinton posted the 30-second moment of truth on Facebook.
Twitter account "Kabulastugan," which posts meme photos and videos, also posted the video with the caption, "ma'am tani."
The caption was a reference to GMA resident meteorologist Nathaniel "Mang Tani" Cruz, who had gone viral in 2018 for trying to restrain his laughter after he mistakenly called anchor Jun Veneracion "Josie," the local name of the tropical depression that time.
Though Mang Tani carried on with his live updates no problemo, his conscious efforts to not burst into laughter had been so apparent as his voice quivered throughout the segment.
"Hahahhaha tawang tawa ko dito kagabi," a Twitter user said of Erispe's clip, followed by two crying emojis, "rason kung bakit di ko pinurse ang news caster dream ko hahahaha."
"HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA KAHET AKO TATAWANAN KO DIN SARILI KO," another user said, followed by tears of joy emojis.
Erispe, meanwhile, has been a good sport and also poked fun at herself.
"Yes, i'm that sabowg girl," she wrote in an Instagram post. "(Looking For): Tindahan na mapupuntahan."
"Chariz," Erispe said, using an iteration of the oft-used Pinoy internet lingo "charot" or just kidding. "Goodvibes lang tayo (heart emoji), mahalaga employed pa rin ako," followed by a tears of joy emoji.
Last February, One News anchor Gretchen Ho also turned viral in social media as she tried her hardest not to laugh over a news item in which presidential candidate Isko Moreno Domagoso was thrown a piece of turon during his motorcade.
