Martial law film Liway is now streaming on YouTube March 18.

Writer and director Kip Oebanda said viewers can also watch the film without any commercials.

"Eh gusto niyo e. Ayan. Ad-free until April hehe," he said.

Based on Oebanda's childhood, Liway tells the the story of an anti-Marcos mother, Cecilia Flores-Oebanda or Commander Liway, who's trying to keep the hope alive for her young son, Dakip, who is imprisoned as a political detainee.

It stars Glaiza de Castro as Liway, Dominic Roco as Dakip’s father Commander Toto, and Kenken Nuyad as Dakip.

The ad-free streaming comes on the heels of The Kingmaker—a documentary about Imelda Marcos, wife of the ousted late dictator Ferdinand Marcos—being made available to everybody on Vimeo last March 11.

Liway premiered at the 2018 Cinemalaya Independent Film Festival, where it won the special jury commendation and the audience choice award in the full-length feature category.

The following year, Liway also bagged three Film Academy of the Philippines Awards, namely best screenplay, best editing, and best actress for De Castro.

De Castro got more best actress accolades at the Guild of Educators, Mentors, and Students Awards, Platinum Stallion Media Awards, and the Luna Awards in 2019.

Nuyad, meanwhile, was named movie child performer of the year by the Star Awards for Movies of the Philippine Movie Press Club.
