'We don't talk about Jada, no, no, no': Memes rain down after Will Smith slaps Chris Rock during Oscars

Quite unsurprisingly, social media was filled up with memes in no time right after Will Smith slapped Chris Rock at the stage of the Oscars 2022 awarding ceremony.

After winning the best actor award for King Richard, Smith in his acceptance speech has apologized to the Academy and fellow nominees—but didn't directly address Rock.

The Academy, meanwhile, wrote in a tweet after the show that it "does not condone violence in any form."

Here are some of the social media posts and memes in relation to the incident.

For user @RaplineRoom, it was reminiscent of the popular Batman Slapping Robin exploitable image.

The Public Enemies Podcast, meanwhile, shared a minute-long excerpt from the adult cartoon Family Guy, in which the character Stewie Griffin goes to extreme lengths just to strike the animated version of comedian Will Ferrell.

@honeybbhl posted screenshots of Andrew Garfield and Zendaya using their phones during the event, as they're supposedly scrolling on Twitter after the incident.

@ongmattmurdock shared an image of actress Lupita Nyong'o, who was seated behind Smith as the slapping happened.

"LUPITA IN THE BEHIND WILL SMITH IS KILLING ME," the tweet read.

@kingsabalo shared a photo of Nicole Kidman with her mouth agape, saying she should win the Oscar for Best Reaction To Will Smith Slapping Chris Rock.

User Ashley Brewer shared an old image of singer Billie Eilish looking perplexed.

"what just happened with chris rock and will smith," Brewer wrote.

Facebook page "Every Dreamworks Movies Frame in Order," meanwhile, edited the infamous snap with the faces of the animated characters the two actors portrayed in DreamWorks movies: Martin as the plains zebra Marty in Madagascar (where he starred alongside Pinkett Smith, who portrayed the hippopotamus Gloria) and Smith as the bluestreak cleaner wrasse Oscar in Shark Tale.

@truth_etc said Smith just made the Oscars "exciting again."

@Lulz5wag, meanwhile, edited scenes from the Marvel Cinematic Universe's Avengers: Infinity War, in which Smith supposedly comes out of a portal conjured by Doctor Strange to slap the supervillain Thanos.

For @00DREVM, Smith could pass for a character in the Pokémon mainline games on Nintendo consoles and the mobile game Fruit Ninja.

Joe Warbington, for his part, referenced the iconic We Don't Talk About Bruno song from the best animated feature Encanto.

Erik Perkins also retitled the song to We Don't Talk About Jada, saying it should've been the night's performance.
