Woman commits murder out of 'curiosity' after watching and reading about it

A woman from South Korea allegedly killed and dismembered a woman she met online out of "curiosity" after reading books and watching shows about murder.
Multiple local outlets, including The Chosun Libo, reported that Jung Yoo-jung, 23, was arrested on May 31 and indicted for murder on June 2.
Police said she was "found to have premeditated the crime driven by a desire to kill someone after she became obsessed with murder from TV programs and books."
She initially told police she killed the victim over an argument, but eventually came clean following contradictions in her statements.
Jung also "carefully planned" the murder, authorities said.
According to the investigation, her phone's search history showed tips on how to conceal a corpse. Jung also watched shows on true crime and borrowed crime books from a library.
She then looked for a victim, signing up for a private tutor app. She posed as a mother of a ninth-grade student and contacted the victim two days ahead of the crime. Her "daughter," she said, will go to the victim's house for a consultation.
Jung herself posed as the daughter, wearing a school uniform she had bought online. Once inside the tutor's house, she stabbed her with a knife according to the police.
Jung then went to a nearby supermarket and bought bin bags and bleach. She chopped the victim into pieces and placed some of the body parts in a suitcase, dumping it somewhere on the banks of Nakdong River. Other body parts were found in Jung's house.
Police said Jung also tried to make it look like the victim disappeared by keeping her mobile phone, identification card, and wallet. But the taxi driver who took her to the area found blood-stained clothes in the bags and alerted the police.
"Jung also said she feels sorry for what she did," the police said.
Jung reportedly lived alone with her grandfather for five years, during which she's unemployed since being graduated from high school in 2018. She reportedly had no social life and rarely left the house.
She was reportedly preparing for a civil service exam before the murder.
Jung's grandfather apologized to the victim's family, saying they "failed" to raise her "properly."
