Erap now discharged from hospital after recovering from COVID-19

Former President Joseph “Erap” Estrada has been discharged from the hospital on Monday, April 26. This is almost a month after he was rushed to the hospital after being diagnosed with COVID-19.

In a Facebook post, Erap’s son Jinggoy Estrada shared a photo of his father who appears to be surrounded by family. The caption for the photo reads: “Welcome home!!!!”

Earlier, Jinggoy announced that Erap would be discharged from the hospital. “Our family is overjoyed to announce that our father will finally be discharged from the hospital today,” he said.

“We would like to express our gratitude to his doctors for their expertise and care. We would like to thank everyone who prayed with us and supported us through this harrowing experience,” Jinggoy added. 

"But most of all, we would like to thank our Lord Almighty for His love and guidance through all of this."

Erap was brought to the hospital on March 28 after he tested for COVID-19 on March 28. He was transferred to the intensive care unit and placed in a ventilator days after. He moved out of the ICU on April 14 but was transferred back on April 16 due to a lung infection. 

On April 19, Jinggoy announced that Erap was transferred again to a regular hospital room following improvement in his health.
