Outgoing president Rodrigo Duterte has been given the departure honors by the Presidential Security Group (PSG) at the Malacañang Palace Grounds.

The departure honors is a ceremonial event given to each president before stepping down as the country's chief executive. Duterte was joined by incoming President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr.

Duterte and Marcos Jr. descended the Palace staircase for the full military departure honors and the symbolic transition of power. Duterte then thanked PSG Chief Brig. Gen. Randolph Cabangbang after the ceremonies: "Salamat thank you for the honor, I will remember it forever."

Cabinet members of the Duterte administration cheered for the outgoing president after the brief ceremony.

Duterte will skip the inauguration of the President-elect to return to his hometown of Davao City.
