BTS docuseries and concert film to air on Disney soon

Disney announced that they have signed a deal with K-pop group BTS for various streaming projects including a docuseries and a concert film.  

The Walt Disney Company Asia Pacific teamed up with Hybe, previously known as Big Hit Entertainment, to produce exclusive projects that will air on Disney’s global streaming services, such as Disney+.

BTS revealed in a video that the projects include the concert film BTS: Permission To Dance on Stage which was filmed at the Sofi Stadium in LA last November and the docuseries BTS Monuments: Beyond the Star featuring footage of the band’s life over the past years and the septet's rise to stardom. These are said to be released next year.

“We are thrilled to be collaborating with HYBE to showcase their original content created with powerful artist IP on our global streaming services including Disney+,” The Walt Disney Company’s APAC head of content Jessica Kam-Engle stated.

“This collaboration represents our creative ambition – to work with iconic content creators and top stars in Asia Pacific so their talent can be enjoyed by mainstream audiences in multiple ways. We believe these new titles will captivate consumers worldwide and look forward to introducing more music content on our service.”  

“This will be the start of a long-term collaboration, where we present worldwide audiences a wide range of HYBE content for fans who love our music and artists,” The CEO of Hybe, Park Ji-won added. “The Walt Disney Company has a long history of franchise building and promoting musical artists, with its unparalleled brands and platforms.”

Another title with a BTS member will also air this July 22. V will star in In the Soup: Friendcation alongside his friends and fellow Korean stars Park Seo-joon, Park Hyung-sik, Choi Woo-shik, and rapper Peakboy.

In June, BTS announced that they will be taking their time to explore some solo projects.
