The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) will give out bicycles and cellphone load to fully vaccinated workers under a program aimed to entice more economic frontliners to get the COVID-19 jab.

In a virtual forum yesterday, June 16, DOLE Secretary Silvestre Bello III said that they will relaunch a free bicycle program last year under the new name “BakSikleta.”

“Pag nagpabakuna ka ng dalawang beses bibigyan ka namin ng bisikleta (After you get your second COVID-19 vaccine, you get a free bike),” Bello said during the event.

A cellphone load worth P5,000 will also be given to 2,000 fully vaccinated workers starting July 1 to encourage more people under the A4 category to get jabbed.

Bello said the bike is worth at least P7,000 and could help beneficiaries in starting a small business.

“That is your reward if you show us that you already received two doses of the vaccine starting July 1,” said Bello.

The National Capital Region (NCR) will first receive an initial number of 1,000 bikes, while other regions will receive the next batch of 1,000 more units.

DOLE, however, has not yet released the program guidelines.

As of yesterday, June 16, there were already 152,964 individuals under the A4 category who have received the COVID-19 vaccine, where 7,021 of the total were fully vaccinated.
