Did you ever imagine yourself paying with onions for items you like?

Japan Home Centre’s Quezon City branch made that happen on Saturday, Feb. 4 as it accepted onions as payment for selected items.

Pinoy customers dropped by the store’s Panay Avenue branch near Victoria Towers to take up the offer available for up to three items, including household essentials and cooking pans, among other finds that cost P88. One bulb is equal to one product.

The collected onions, according to Japan Home Centre, will be donated to their community pantry that will be launched across the store on Wednesday, Feb. 8.

The price of onions reached to as high as P800 a kilo in some areas of Metro Manila during the holiday season.

The Presidential Communications Office said in a press release that onion prices may decrease to P100 to P150 per kilo now that the recently imported onions have already arrived in the country.
