A decomposing body of a woman had been found inside a travel bag at an abandoned bus station in Malaysia, sparking authorities to immediately conduct an investigation on her mysterious death.

According to reports from CNN and The Straits Times, the bag had been found by a local man near a building that is owned by the country's local electricity company. The establishment is located in Kulai, a district in the southern state of Johor.

Reports detailed that when the bag was opened, the woman's body was already being feasted on by maggots.

As authorities of Kulai district police opened an investigation on the case, police chief Tok Beng Yeow stated that they have experienced difficulties in trying to identify the woman as her body had already decomposed at an estimation of more than 50 percent.

However, a preliminary post-mortem report by Sultanah Aminah Hospital pointed out that the victim may have been over 25 years old and had died because of a head injury around two weeks ago.

Meanwhile, Johor police chief Kamarul Zaman Mamat told reporters that the woman "is probably not a Malaysian" and that her head injury may have been caused by a blunt object.

He also revealed that she had been dismembered, and that the "nature of this case is similar to those related to revenge," based on previous records.

While he did not go into further details as authorities are still gathering more information from the hospital, Mamat stressed that they have set their eyes on finding out the motive of the killer and whether or not there is more than one suspect involved in the heinous crime.
