LIVE UPDATES: Sara Duterte-Carpio's vice-presidential inauguration
After serving as the mayor of Davao City for two terms, Sara Duterte-Carpio was sworn in as the 15th vice president of the Philippines today, June 19.
The inauguration ceremony began at 3 p.m. and Duterte-Carpio took her oath of office in Davao City's San Pedro Square at 5 p.m. It was administered by Supreme Court Justice Ramon Paul L. Hernando.
The VP-elect's inauguration was set 11 days ahead of the induction of President-elect Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. to enable her to attend her running mate's June 30 ceremony. It is on the same day that both Marcos and Duterte-Carpio will be endowed with duties as the two highest leaders of the government.
Duterte-Carpio served as the head of Davao City's local government from 2010 to 2013 and won her second term in 2016. From 2007 to 2010, the VP-elect served as Davao's vice mayor while her father, incumbent President Rodrigo Duterte, held office as mayor.

Vice President Sara Duterte calls for unity, lauds everyday heroes during inaugural speech
After signing her oath of office, Vice President-elect Sara Duterte-Carpio delivered her inaugural address, urging Filipinos to serve the country and putting a spotlight on the everyday heroes of the nation.
"When I committed myself to governance and public service, I was also determined to finish three consecutive terms as mayor. That will not happen anymore. I am now the vice president-elect," Duterte-Carpio said.
"If you all take a moment to listen to the call to serve and decide to heed the call in the same way that many are already devoting their lives, as hardworking farmers and fisherfolks that ensure that there is food on our tables, dedicated health workers who help the sick, brave soldiers who fight for our country, honest and fair entrepreneurs who support our economy, patient school teachers that guide our children, I believe the country will be heading towards a future of hope security strength stability and progress," she continued.
In addition, the Vice President-elect pointed out the various problems endangering the development of children today and the future generations, including the "lifelong challenge of broken families, the lifelong of baggage because of irresponsible parenting, the abandonment issue due to an absentee parent, the anguish of gender confusion and discrimination."
In her speech, Duterte-Carpio called on parents to ensure a sound future for their children by teaching them the "values of integrity, discipline, respect, and compassion for others." She said it is the parent's duty to do so, as "a strong family sets down all the basic foundations essential to the development and growth of a child."
She ended her speech, reiterating the ethos of the UniTeam Alliance, which is focused on uniting together as one nation.
"The days ahead may be full of challenges, but it calls for us to be more united as a nation. But let me reiterate this: we can never go wrong if we are a people dedicated to honoring the way of God, to serving our country and our fellowmen, and protecting the integrity of our family and the future of our children," Duterte-Carpio said.
"Ako po si Inday Sara, a proud Davaoeña, a proud Mindanawon. Hindi ako ang pinakamagaling o pinakamatalinong tao sa Pilipinas o sa mundo. Ngunit walang makakatalo sa tibay ng puso ko bilang isang Filipino."
Sara Duterte takes oath as the country's 15th vice president
Sara Duterte-Carpio has been sworn into office as the 15th vice president of the country.
Her oath was administered by Supreme Court Associate Justice Ramon Paul L. Hernando, who has been the incoming VP’s longtime friend.
Her parents outgoing President Rodrigo Duterte and his former wife Elizabeth Zimmerman witnessed the oathtaking.

Duterte-Carpio—the second Duterte to hold a position in the national office—will have her transition of power as the second highest official of the State on June 30.
She will succeed outgoing Vice President Leni Robredo, who was unable to attend the affair due to a prior commitment in Naga, Camarines Sur.

Andrew E and Njel De Mesa entertained the audience with musical performances at Sara Duterte's inauguration.
Andrew E sang “Bagong Pilipinas, Bagong Mukha”—the same song that captured the crowd during the UniTeam campaign rallies ahead of the national elections. After his performance, the OPM rapper turned his head to the incoming VP and said: “Congratulations po. May boses na po ako, pwede na pong magcampaign ulit.”

In an intermission number, Filipino rapper Andrew E delivered an updated rendition of the Uniteam campaign jingle Bagong Pilipinas, Bagong Mukha.

Njel De Mesa also took part in the affair, singing some tunes of patriotism like “Lilipad Na Ang Agila.” In the middle of his performance, the musician and producer screamed: “Mga kababayan! Ang susunod na Bise Presidente ng Republika ng Pilipinas: Inday Sara Duterte!”
The two were some of the lead performers of the campaign rallies of Duterte-Carpio and her running mate Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr., who emerged to the top of the presidential elections in May.

VP-elect Sara Duterte's inaugural ceremony has officially started, with the University of Chorale Alumni performing the Philippine National Anthem and Popong Landero's Tayo'y Dabawenyyo.
This was followed by ecumenical prayers from Fr. Emmanuel M. Gonzaga, Aleem Mohammed Pasigon, Datu Rodolfo M. Mande, and Israel C. Facundo.
President Rodrigo Duterte arrives at San Pedro Square in Davao City
Incumbent President Rodrigo Duterte has arrived at the San Pedro Square to witness the vice-presidential inauguration of her daughter Sara Duterte-Carpio.
The president was welcomed by his supporters, along with senators Imee Marcos, Ramon "Bong" Revilla, and newly-elected senator Robin Padilla.
Duterte-Carpio followed suit after coming from the Mass at San Pedro Cathedral.
Sara Duterte attends inaugural mass
The inauguration of Vice President-elect Sara Duterte-Carpio has begun with a thanksgiving mass at the San Pedro Cathedral in Davao. The ceremony is being presided by Archbishop Romulo Valles of the Archdiocese of Davao.
Duterte-Carpio arrived at the venue wearing an emerald green Filipiniana gown designed by Davaoeño designer Silverio Anglacer, who has been Duterte-Carpio's designer since she was elected mayor in 2010.
Among the mass attendees are senators Imee Marcos, Ramon "Bong" Revilla, Ronald "Bato" dela Rosa; incoming senator Loren Legarda; and former President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo.
