The Philippines' total number of active COVID-19 cases rise up to 203,710 following the report of the Department of Health (DOH) on Saturday, April 17. The record is not only the highest yet in the country, but in Southeast Asia, too.

As of today, out of 43,574 that were tested, 11,101 more have tested positive to coronavirus, making the country's total count to 926,052.

799 additional recoveries were also logged by the DOH, which increased the record to 706,532 or 76.3 percent of the cumulative tally. Meanwhile, 72 coronavirus-related deaths were also recorded, bringing the death toll to 15,810.

The DOH said that 98.9 percent are mild and asymptomatic cases.

Currently, NCR Plus (Metro Manila, Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna, and Rizal) is under the less restrictive modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ) until the end of the month.
