CNN Philippines finalizes content license deal with Manny Villar’s AllTV
CNN Philippines has announced its partnership with business tycoon Manny Villar’s media company Advanced Media Broadcasting System or AMBS Channel 2, which is now dubbed “AllTV.”
“Starting September 13, CNN Philippines’ flagship news program News Night in Filipino will simulcast on Advanced Media Broadcasting System (AMBS) from Monday to Friday at 6 p.m.,” the media giant announced on its official website.
Titled “CNN Philippines Hour on AllTV,” the 60-minute news program is set to “showcase the day’s top stories with live reports, in-depth analysis, and live interviews with newsmakers.” Likewise, it’s available on 12 RPN radio stations in various areas of Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.
“Through this partnership with AMBS, we have an opportunity to reach more people in many parts of the country and deliver news that’s accurate, fair, and balanced. We are proud that in the last seven years, our network has been able to uphold the high standards of journalism that the three red and white letters of CNN have been known for globally,” CNN PH President Benjamin V. Ramos said.
AMBS President Maribeth Tolentino—who expressed her excitement and delight over the special tie-up—added that it would allow viewers to consume not just entertainment programs but also “in-depth local news coverage, and a global perspective on key issues and stories from around the world.”
AllTV is using ABS-CBN Corporation’s former frequencies after the latter’s failed bid for a new franchise in 2020.
Aimed at providing Filipinos with “relevant TV programs and the best entertainment shows in the country,” it’s set to be officially launched on Sept. 13, “with limited broadcast hours from 5 p.m. to 12 a.m. but is expected to expand in the coming year,” according to CNN PH.
AllTV will be streamed on channels 2, 16, and 35 on Sky Cable and Cignal TV.
