A typical escape from the police may include a high speed car chase or making the run for it, but for an 18-year-old in the U.K. facing counts of car theft and other delinquencies, the perfect escape was to stuff himself inside a giant teddy bear.

Joshua Dobson’s odd escape attempt was reported by UK law enforcement agency Rochdale’s Greater Manchester Police (GMP) in an August 10 Facebook post. Along with their post was a witty caption that told the story of the his attempt to evade the authorities.

According to the post, when the neighborhood cops went to arrest the teenage thief at the Spotland area of Rochdale in Greater Manchester, England, they found him hiding in a suspicious looking teddy bear sitting in his home.

“When we went to arrest him, our officers noticed a large bear breathing in the address before finding Dobson hidden inside!” wrote the authorities before listing Dobson’s acts of stealing a car, driving while disqualified, and running from a gas station without paying for fuel back in May.

GMP also shared a couple of photos of the alleged hiding place at the scene of the crime. The five feet tall teddy bear was discovered to have a section of its bottom torn open with the filling spilling out where Dobson may have managed to slip into.

According to local news reports, Dobson is set to "stuffed behind bars" for nine months.

“Hopefully he has a bearable time inside,” GMP quipped in their report.
