A woman from China called the police after her boyfriend decided to end their longtime relationship without giving her an explanation.
According to a report by the South China Morning Post, the woman asked the police to monitor the activity of her ex and track him down to ask why he decided to call it quits on their romance that lasted for six years.
Audio and video recordings showed how patient the police officer was when he talked to the heartbroken woman. “Is it necessary to find him? Remember an old Chinese saying, ‘Not resign until reaching the Yellow River; not turn around until hitting the South Wall,’” he told her.
SCMP stated that the Chinese quote “refers to people who do not give up until realizing their efforts are futile.”
“But I just can’t figure out why he treated me like this,” she said, crying.
“He has already hurt you so much. If he returns to say some words to you, will you get involved with him again? You should be aware of what the root of this problem is and don’t give him any opportunity to take advantage of you,” the officer replied, saying that what happened only showed what type of person her ex-boyfriend actually is and that her love for him “is not worth it.”
“But there is a person waiting for you who is worth your dedication,” the policeman noted.
“Block his mobile number and other contact information. Break up with him in a decent manner. Have a peaceful mind and go out to meet more people, rather than staying alone and having various dark thoughts,” he advised.
SCMP reported that their conversation has been the talk of the town on social media as Internet users praised the police officer for his patience as he handled the matter. Some, however, called it a “waste of time.”
