Dismissed cop and convicted murderer Jonel Nuezca has died in the New Bilibid Prison (NBP), as confirmed by the Bureau of Corrections.
“He was brought unconscious to the NBP Hospital by his cellmates at 6:30 PM yesterday (Nov 30, 2021) when they noticed that he collapsed on the floor of their dormitory," said BuCor spokesperson Assistant Secretary Gabriel Chaclag.
Chaclag added that the cause of death is still unknown.
"Investigation is ongoing to determine if there is foul play in the incident," he added.

Nuezca had been in NBP for at least three months after the Tarlac Regional Trial Court Branch 106 found him guilty beyond reasonable doubt of murder on two counts last August 26. He was sentenced to reclusion perpetua or up to 40 years in prison.
On December 2020, the 47-year-old police officer was found guilty of two counts of murder for killing 52-year-old Sonia Gregorio and her son, Frank Anthony Gregorio in broad daylight in Paniqui, Tarlac.
In the viral video captured by Sonia's grandmother, Nuezca can be seen arguing with the Gregorios over a "boga," or a noisemaker, before gunning them down just five days before Christmas. He was dismissed from service shortly on Jan. 12.
