Senatorial aspirant Salvador Panelo is set to release a cover and music video of Sharon Cuneta’s hit song Sana’y Wala Nang Wakas, dedicating his rendition to children with special needs.

Cuneta, whose husband Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan is running for vice president, made headlines on March 10 when she called out the former presidential spokesperson for using the love song during a campaign rally in Quezon City.

Panelo then defended his actions, saying the OPM track reminded him of his late son Carlo who had Down Syndrome.

“To parents and families of children with special needs/ disabilities (CWDs), this is for you! Last night, we recorded Sana’y Wala Nang Wakas with Viva Records,” Panelo said in a Facebook post.

Panelo said his cover will be “out soon,” saying the song “perfectly captures the unconditional love of parents for CWDs.”

The senatorial aspirant said the music video will feature pictures of CWDs with their parents to “help raise awareness” for children with special needs.

He also asked families of children with special needs to share their photos “for a chance to be featured.”

Sana’y Wala Nang Wakas was originally released as a soundtrack to the 1986 blockbuster film of the same name starring Cuneta, Cherie Gil, and Dina Bonnevie.

The hit song was composed by Willy Cruz and was released by Viva Records.
