Comelec to launch mobile app for a faster voter registration process

The Commission on Elections (Comelec) will launch a mobile registration app tomorrow, June 15, to make the voter registration process faster and easier.

The software dubbed "Mobile Registration Form Application" (MRFA) is accessible via any Android mobile phone even when you’re offline.

Comelec commissioner Marlon Casquejo said the launch is “very timely in the face of mobility restrictions brought about by COVID-19, because you will only need a smartphone to accomplish the form.”

“This will save time, effort, and money that will otherwise be spent on going to a computer shop to download and print the form, or getting the form at the local COMELEC to fill it out manually,” he added.

According to the government agency, the MRFA has been rolled out in a few pilot areas early this month. At present, it is being utilized in over 500 cities in different parts of the country such as the National Capital Region (NCR), Cebu City, and Davao City, among others.

How does it work? Here’s a quick guide provided by the COMELEC:

For questions and clarifications about the new app, you may contact the Voter Care Center at 0927 559 5926.

Voter registration for the May 2022 national and local polls will end on September 30.
