Looking to get your hands on colored commemorative coins?

The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) has launched a commemorative coin set in honor of the 125th anniversary of Philippine Independence, and it will be available on the BSP shop soon.

With 100-peso, 20-peso, and 5-peso denominations, the coins pay tribute to a significant event in Philippine history, namely, the 1898 declaration of Philippine independence (P100), the birth of the country’s first republic at the Barasoain Church (P20), and the bravery of the Filipinos who fought for the country’s sovereignty in the Philippine-American War (P5).

The set serves as the first colored, non-circulation, commemorative coins produced by the BSP and it was developed using the latest digital printing technology available.

While the coin set will be sold on the central bank's online store, BSP has yet to announce via its social media channels when it will be available for sale.

The National Historical Commission of the Philippines is leading the 125th Independence Day celebration from 2023 to 2026 with the theme, "Kalayaan. Kinabukasan. Kasaysayan."

The country celebrates its Independence Day every June 12, commemorating the declaration of Philippine independence from Spain in 1898.
