The 2020 Tokyo Olympics is drawing to a close, and silver medalist Nesthy Petecio will carry the Philippine flag during the closing ceremony this Sunday, August 8.

On Saturday, August 7, Chef de Mission for Tokyo 2020 Olympics Mariano "Nonong" Araneta announced the news about Petecio being the Philippines' flag bearer at the closing ceremony which will take place at the Olympic Stadium in Tokyo, Japan.

"Ang flag bearer natin si Nesthy," said Araneta in an interview with Noli Eala on his radio show. "And of course, ‘yung mga officials, ‘yung mga boxing officials at kung sino pa ang atleta doon."

Araneta added that the Tokyo organizers have given the Philippine team an additional of 10 passes in the closing ceremony, which will give chance to those who weren't able to join during the opening.

“’Yung mga officials, bibigyan din natin ng pagkakataon na mag-march kasi nung opening, limited lang," he said.

Possible to join Petecio are boxers Irish Magno, Eumir Marcial, and Carlo Paalam, and golfers Yuka Saso and Bianca Pagdanganan.
