'Family Feud' contestant who joked that he regretted marrying his wife is now on trial for her murder

A man is accused of killing his wife, three years after he joked on air that he regretted marrying her.

Timothy W. Bliefnick is now on trial for allegedly murdering Rebecca Bliefnick in February. He is charged with "two counts of first-degree murder and one count of home invasion in connection with Rebecca’s death," PEOPLE reported. If found guilty, he could face up to life in prison.

The victim's sister, Sarah Reilly, testified in court that Rebecca "feared for her life" and told her that if something ever happens to her, it may be the doing of her husband Tim.

Reilly read the text message she received from her sister in Sept. 2021 in court: “If something ever happens to me, make sure the number one person of interest is Tim. I am putting this in writing that I'm fearful he will somehow harm me.”

As per KHQA, Bliefnick's internet browsing history revealed he was looking for ways "to use a crowbar, how to make a homemade silencer, police response times, how to open a window from the outside, using a crowbar, and how to wash gunpowder from your hands."

Last February 23, the victim's father William Postle found her dead on her bathroom floor.

Blienfnick was charged with her murder two and a half weeks after the discovery. It was said that he used a crowbar to enter Rebecca's bedroom and shot her 14 times.

According to reports, Blienfnick and Rebecca "have been separated for two years" and were in the midst of a divorce.

In 2020, Blienfnick and his family joined US game show Family Feud where he was asked by host Steve Harvey what his biggest mistake is at his wedding.

"Honey, I love you, but, 'Said I do,'" Bliefnick replied. "Not my mistake, not my mistake — I love my wife. I'm gonna get in trouble for that, aren't I?"

Blienfnick's attorney Casey Schnack said her client pleads not guilty to his wife's slaying. She also said that the remark on the show was harmless.

"It's a game show," she told Fox News Digital. "A silly answer to a silly question on a silly show doesn't make one a murderer."

Meanwhile, Reilly has put up a GoFundMe page for her sister's memorial fund and funds for her nephew's future.

"Moving forward, our whole family will lovingly support and care for the boys for the rest of their lives in the ways we know Becky would want. To do this well, we have established this GoFundMe with the goal of establishing a scholarship fund in Becky’s name as well as to help with family expenses related to Becky’s death and the future care of her boys," she wrote in the description box.
